Simultaneous Analysis of Sulfite and Sulfate in Less than 10 Minutes by Fast IC

Simultaneous Analysis of Sulfite and Sulfate in Less than 10 Minutes by Fast IC

Fast IC means high sample throughput on short columns with relatively high flow rates and strong eluents. In beer, sulfite can be well separated from sulfate and other anions within less than ten minutes on a Metrosep A Supp 10-100/4.0.

Ion chromatography (IC) is a standard method for beverage analysis. Numerous main ingredients, components with effects on taste and health and traces of contaminants can be reliably and precisely determined with the help of IC.

Multicomponent determinations in a single analysis in addition to anions and cations, also carbohydrates, organic acids, and polar substances can be quantified in a variety of beverages.

The advantage of ion chromatography is that parallel determinations of chemically similar substances can be carried out in a single analysis. Furthermore, the concentration of the analytes can vary from the ng/L up to the percentage range. Of course, all Metrohm IC instruments and the MagIC Net chromatography software are in compliance with FDA standards.

AN-S-321 Fast IC: Sulfite and sulfate in beer in less than ten minutes.
Fast IC means a high sample throughput. This is attained with short columns, relatively high flows and strong eluents. Sulfite can be determined in beer alongside sulfate and other anions with the Metrosep A Supp 10 – 50/4.0.
