Benfield solution monitoring made easy

Benfield solution monitoring made easy

The ratio of vanadium in Benfield process solutions provides a convenient indicator of the process solution.

Benfield solution monitoring

Through the Benfield process, vanadium is used to assist in the removal of CO2 and sulphur. As part of this process, Va5+ is reduced to Va4+. By monitoring this ratio, it is possible to maximise the use of the Benfield solution without endangering the removal process by exhausting the system of Va5+.

Ion Exchange chromatography provides a fast, simple and reliable analytical technique for monitoring the vanadium species.
